North

Oh, now how you
want to go
to go to Ontario,
but people ask why
you say "I don't know!"
You just want to go
to Ontario
where you find time
and you could nudge it
wear a shirt that says
"Canada, it fits your budget"
and your crazy boyfriend will
laugh, but not understand.
He too wants to leave his native land.
But not to Ontario, oh no.
Says he wants to go to Tokyo.
drive a foreign car
and be a karaoke rock star.
But you just want to go
to Ontario.
Stoners laugh, think they know why,
"But weed, here, man, it's been decriminalized"
I know I know, "but that's not why"
They shrug their shoulders and go get high.
But you want to, want to go
Ontario.
You got away but for a minute
you thought you'd find life and begin it,
and you found your heart and didn't leave it
Found it and couldn't believe it.
Didn't find it in S. Frisco,
you found just two hours
outside Ontario.
Near a Lake not overflowin'
Once you touched down, your heart was goin'
And he said he's been there don'tcha know.
He's been to Ontario.
And he tried to take you there
to take you to the Shakespeare Faire,
but you got sick and cut your hair,
and you got angry.
