Weather Permitting

there are some things -
we'll never be able to divorce-
our front passenger seats,
covered, constantly, in clutter & red bull
crumpled clothes, stained books &
moldy, scratched notebooks-
yours Capitol Hill
mine cathartic
we still manage to not wear socks,
ever-
we have great hair & are uncompromising
when it comes to over-protectiveness;
especially at dinners with right wing congressmen
(and women)
our growing pains
have settled our disgruntled disputes,
or our small secrets that only the grass & Spring know,
have, regrettably out grown our adolescent care---
in Virginia drizzle
we signed our distance
& since we exchanged vows of existence
I have nothing
